Yet half a beast is the great god Pan,
To laugh as he sits by the river,
Making a poet out of a man:
The true gods sigh for the cost and pain,-
For the reed which grows nevermore again
As a reed with the reeds in the river.
To laugh as he sits by the river,
Making a poet out of a man:
The true gods sigh for the cost and pain,-
For the reed which grows nevermore again
As a reed with the reeds in the river.

Brilliant analysis of one of the most underrated games of all time. I have played FC2 more than any other game.
👍👍
Absolutely incredible study of the game man! Superb production value, writing, well formatted and incredibly eloquent!
Thank you!
@@FaceFullofEyes Just watched your 'Handedness' one as well, again knocking it out of the park. I'm learning animation myself currently and the problems you mention in there are many that have always bothered me! I didn't even realise some games like The Last of Us mirrored the weapon!
Watching the first twenty minutes or so of this video was actually what made me want to play Far Cry 2 in the first place. It’s been at least a year since then, and the rest is just as good.
I would really love to see you cover the game Ready or Not. I could listen to you talk about minute details in settings for hours.
This video is an experience in itself
Great video but you seriously need to have a little bit less of a reliance on AI for your scripts. It just throws me off sometimes because there very clearly copy and pasted. Asking chatgpt to compare dishonored and far cry to modern warfare (aesthetically) Gave me essentially the same exact comparison you made WORD FOR WORD I just know people hate ai so it’s a tip you can look over or think about. Great video!
No AI was used in the writing of any of my scripts
The thing that annoys me about the rapid respawn in outposts and checkpoints is that it exposes how many players never even considered not fighting their way through. Almost all of them had a car next to every road so you could just walk around and grab a new one. Or just keep driving if there was open savanna. It's more ridiculous to expect strategic locations to be left abandoned. The whole theme of the game is that the true enemy is the mindless violence that infects our thoughts. Killing your way through an outpost is only ever a means to an immediate end, like a mission objective or specific supplies. It is never a permanent solution
Why Almost all Game use left hand for sword ⚔ and right hand for shield 🛡? Its akways confuses me.
Those aesthetics brooooo! 😭😭😩
I commented about this game a few times on other channels, at face value people tend to paint far cry 2 as the game that could have been somthing, to those who truly relish it, and experience it.. those who consider it not so much as an fps, but a rare window into which we can view a humanity at is most raw and unregulated form without an irl filter through the news and especially now bias we all loathe and regret. It rewards ingenuity and hard work only to bring it all crashing down in the blink of an eye through what I agree is one of its most defining and glaring characteristics.. indifference. This same indifference that the world views a 3rd world conflict from a first world perspective untill you find yourself in far cry 2. Your not the hero, your not even unique really, your just an animal in an ecosystem that is molded only by factors that you not only cannot control but dictate who you are to others without even giving you a choice. It's not the action hero movie gameplay like combat evolved, nor the moral triumph of the average guy who succeeds against tyranny like far cry 3 4 or 5. It's unique feature is its unwillingness, and almost bitter struggle against the player trying to feel unique. It's the loneliest game in the franchise... but it's always lonely at the top.
bro i am a 10 yers old and i playd far cry 2 and now i cuestian humanati as a hole
I question your English skills.
absolutely incredible video, wish i had half your talent
Could you please do aesthetics of deus ex? Thanks in advance!
How was is that? I had fun uwu))
Please "history of flinch in fps games" 🙌🏾
Jesus Christ..
If only games now adays had balls to be brutally realistic
Waiting for a true spiritual successor to come out.
i like how you mistook Safehouse and Heat missions lol Other than that this is such a great video and it makes me realize why I love the first Modern Warfare so much
one of the best videos I have ever watched on RUclips
My favorite quote from this game is sometimes said by dying npcs: « I’m gonna die here, I knew it. I should’ve never answer that phone call, should have never made a passport, should’ve never boarded that plane. Now I’m gonna die here »
I remember once I wanted to shoot at a buffalo with the dart gun out of pure curiosity. I hesitated for maybe 7 seconds. I pulled the trigger and the gun jammed. I let the buffalo live. Far cry 2 is an experience
This game hit the sweet spot
I wish some future game would have physics with flame throwers. It's not just gas type of flame, it's heavy shit with pressure. It should throw you back little bit.
When I can't spin my gun 360 degrees in a video game (like apex legends in the weapon locker) I always scream FARCRY 3 DID IT A DECADE AGO!!!!!!
Most of this praise is only really valid if you play on infamous difficulty - highly, HIGHLY recommend!
Do dead island
This video gave me a reason to like Far Cry 2. Can't believe I played the game the wrong way when I meant to be more acceptable on the bleakness
"to get the shell out" Never actually noticed that mistake back in the day. GP-25 doesn't use a shell, and in that animation it even has the grenade in it lol
"or kidney stones???" hah
33:50 that's a gorilla hand
It always has bothered me how in FC3 how guy with no any experience with firearms (yes brother that was in afghanistan or something) just goes wild and kills everyone. I love how they created Vaas but the whole setup for main character is really stupid. It doesn't make any sense.
I would love to see another Far Cry that is similar to 2
I have been sitting still for the past one hour, mouth gaping open, totally immersed in the world of Far Cry 2. The visuals, your voice, the words, I am mesmerized. I wish you all the best man. This video has been a treat.
Thank you
5:53-5:55 who made these paintings?
i love all of this, the game, the video the channel as a whole is pure enjoyment from start to end
Thank you
Don’t know if you remember me I commented a lot on your far cry videos I’m glad to see you’re still going strong I’m curious if you played POLICE QUEST SWAT 2 and if so thoughts?
I haven't, ideally I would like to eventually do Aesthetics of SWAT 3, and that would be a chance to revisit the origins of the series for comparison
@@FaceFullofEyes thanks for answering
43:24 "Sad fact about Far Cry 3 is that symbolism doesn't equal depth, and piling up references doesn't add meaning to the story. It only shows you know your pop culture. Despite all that, Far Cry 3 remains an enjoyable sample of low art." Wow. It's such a damning statement and I don't think it's possible to sum it all up any better. I remember watching this quite a while ago and every now and then I come back to this and the Far Cry 2 video. Incredible video.
Bruh it’s been 3 years and this is still my favourite world at war break down video, and it always gets me to play the game once again after watching
Holy shit I am listening to "Sisters of Mercy - Neverland" while watching the "aesthetic experience" segment. HOLY SHIT it fits so well to the theme being spoken about
Really nice video, it’s unfortunate how little is noticed in the average playthrough, but your attention to detail was really eye opening as to what made SWAT IV so memorable
A game having details in 2005 wasn't a foreign concept at the time, so why are you making it out to be some kind of novelty? Games like FEAR and Condemned Criminal Origins both ran on the Jupiter Engine and had similar looks to this game. So let me guess - it's for content. That's why you had to shoehorn so much inconsequential information and hyper fixate on random crap. This video eventually devolves into tangents rambling about details in bathrooms and the psychology about a mid 2000s tactical shooter, like what? Having details is fine but like I said, this is a Tactical Shooter, not a walking sim. These videos that overanalyse old games to an extent this extreme are total garbage and I can't wait for the day RUclips stops recommending me them.
@scavmerchanthub sent me here
Still _the best_ in-depth analysis of _Far Cry 2_ there is. And that's coming from someone who managed to beat it roughly 10 times.
Thank you!
Hey, @facefullofeyes, do you know @warlockracy? No, I’m not assuming because your accents are similar. You and he both have very niche tastes and takes and both do long form videos, I’d imagine there would be some overlap for that reason alone.
I'm not familiar with his work
@@FaceFullofEyes I really liked his video on Age of decadence, or Underrail...I’m sure you’re up to your gills in things to watch, but if you want something new I would say it’s 100% worth watching for a long form dissertation/playthrough on a niche game.
@@Aweebittyfan Thanks, if I find the time I'll try to check it out
I'll never forget the first time I got rescued by one of the buddys, didn't know that was a thing so when the screen faded to black I glanced down at my phone. Then wait WHAT.
Would love to see the aesthetics of Titanfall, especially the first game it was done amazingly. Keep up the good work man, love these vids!
This video makes me appreciate COD4:MW even more. I love your take on Death From Above and All Ghillied Up.
This is an amazing video. Thank you for this high quality documentary.
